Whatis in a name?Once again, the Sun team has changed the nomenclature for the
standard Java platform. What used to be known as Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0
(orversion 1.5 for the Java Development Kit [JDK]) has become Java SE 6 with the latest
release. It seems some folks donit like iJavai being abbreviated, if I had to guess. Java SE 6
has a code name of Mustang, and came into being through the Java Community Process
(JCP)as Java Specification Request (JSR)
270. Similar to how J2SE 5.0 came about as
JSR176, JSR 270 serves as an umbrella JSR, where other JSRs go through the JCP public
review phase on their own, and become part of the inexti standard edition platform if
they are ready in time.
