2020 has given us a new version of Android, Android 11 (code-named "R")!
Each new release brings new opportunities and new challenges for Android developers. Many of the new challenges are extensions of the problems introduced in last year’s Android 10. So, if you are worried about further changes to storage or permissions, or you are nervous about new restrictions being placed on developers, this book is for you!
What’s New in Version 0.4?
The existing material was updated to reflect the shipping version of Android 11.
A new chapter was added on device controls.
The introductory chapter, covering how developer previews and beta releases work, was removed. Now that Android 11 and the final SDK bits for API Level 30 are shipping, there is nothing particularly special about developing for what had been Android R.
Also, most of the references to “Android R” were replaced with corresponding references to “Android 11”, resulting in minor changes to every chapter.
