Hellenkemper Hansgerd, Hild Friedrich. Neue Forschungen in Kilikien

Hild have published a valuable account of their travels in Cilicia between 1983 and 1985. In his preface H. Hunger notes that this book provides the authors with a forum to discuss the monuments and topography in the kind of detail that would be impossible in a TIB volume. The well-documented disappearance of Byzantine and Armenian monuments in modern Turkey provides a strong (and in this reviewer's opinion highly justified) impetus for including 201 black and white photographs. The chronological limits of the buildings under study range from the Hellenistic to the late Ottoman.
