Juel-Frederiksen (1873-1950) was a Danish composer and organist.
He himself studied singing and clarinet at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Danish Music Conservatory in the years 1891-1893 and learned organ playing by private tuition. He then went to Berlin to further his voice training. Upon his return, he himself became a singer in the choir at Garrison Church, and went on trips around Denmark and Norway as a concert singer. In Norway, he also sang baritone parts in some operas, including Alfio and Cavalleria rusticana. For a time he was a music critic for the Copenhagen newspaper Aftenbladet and he also had various positions as a music teacher, among others. Emil Juel-Frederiksen was a diligent composer of smaller piano pieces and slightly sentimental songs, which were very popular at the time. Eg. released a song like Little Poppy (for own lyrics) in 37 editions! Many of the piano pieces were light fantasies about famous songs, Christmas tunes or spiritual songs. But he also made some major works, some cantatas, a ballet, some orchestral suites as well as the music for the folk comedy The Smuggler's Son , which was performed at the Casino in 1913.
