Budapest: Rozsnyai, cca 1910. — 8 p.
The whole piece moves in "empty" quints and explores its harmonies in little wave like excursions, as I feel. There is one big eruption in the middle part, which calms down and finally it builds up to a shining C major in the end. (Still voiced without third mind you - only the scaffold C,G is present). Obviously one rarity in this composition is the explicit notation of Pedal usage, making the piece actually pretty difficult to play (this statement depends on HOW exact you want to stick to the markings though). Legato jumps of quints are a figuration you normally don't encounter so often, this is almost like an etude for that.
His opus 3 was also composed in 1908 year. I suppose this Caprice is one of the very first compositions of Weiner.
