Butzow Wladimir de. Ce que raconte la foret pour piano
St. Petersburg: P. Jurgenson, N.D. — 20 p.
About the Russian composer Vladimir Byutzov (also sometimes referred to as Wladimir de Bützow) except that he published a few piano pieces with Jurgenson in the early years of the 20th century; he was in Paris in the 1920s; and that he wrote a ballet called “The Black Swan and the Lily”; and that he published a popular set of arrangements of gypsy songs in the 1940s. The piano pieces I have seen show him coming very close to Rachmaninov in the style of his piano writing. The influence of nature in the set of five sketches—What the forest tells'—from which this wonderful piece comes reminds me of the aesthetic of Vítězslav Novák.
5 sketches:
Sostenuto in C major
Largo e pesante in D minor
Semplice e mesto in E minor
Andantino in D♭ major
Allegretto grazioso in A major
