An extraordinary instrumentalist and an exquisite composer of popular music, he enjoyed prestige among his peers, but not fame in his country.
As a composer he was unclassifiable… his music has a great personality, it is unmistakable… He was not a great melodist, but his harmonic constructions were very original and were enhanced by a remarkable piano language, which reflected an orchestra. His piano technique was astonishing… and his way of playing was very particular, he hardly moved his arms, he never hit the keys and he used very little pedal. The strength was in his fingers and in his expression.
