Helsinki: Helsingfors Nya Musikhandel, n.d. — 6 p.Christian Teilman (30 July 1843 - 4 December 1909) was a Norwegian organist, pianist, and composer. He wrote over 250 individual compositions in his lifetime.
The Norwegian composer Christian Teilman was from a family with Danish origins. He was born six weeks after Grieg, and outlived him by two years - but unlike his contemporary he is forgotten, at least outside Norway. In his lifetime he was apparently a household name there, and wrote a lot of dance and special-occasion music, as well as an operetta. In texture this piece is quite similar to a Grieg lyric piece, but maybe without the individuality or strong Norwegian folk-feel.
