Rogelio Villar was a composer, musicologist and Spanish teacher. He was a student of Zabalza at the Conservatory of Madrid in 1918 and obtained the chair of Chamber Music at the institution between 1919 cand 1936. Despite being a tenacious Wagnerian, but Villar wrote no opera. Instead, his interest in the symphonic poem can be seen in works such as the romantic Suite 1907.
