The Spanish composer Rogelio del Villar (1874-1937) was a native of León, who studied piano at the Madrid conservatory with the Basque composer Dámaso Zabalsa, and in 1918 became a professor of chamber music there. Although he wrote symphonic poems for orchestra, his main interest was in piano music and songs - one of these, 'Madrigal' was once very popular.
